About us
BDCL records reveal that the club participated in the 1900-01 season. The club has the longest continuous membership of the league.
The first known venue was West Bromwich YMCA but in 1921 the club moved to West Bromwich Institute in Lodge Road and would be based there until 1966.
Notable members include the politician and journalist Brian Walden, British Arbiter Harry Baines, Councillor Martyn Smith and International table tennis champion Derek Bachouse.
The club participates in the Birmingham and Wolverhampton leagues.

The Chess Club AGM will be held at Dartmouth Central Club on Monday 14th August at 7.30pm.
West Bromwich start with an away fixture at Mutual Circle on Tuesday 5th September.
A much-needed win to avoid the prospect of relegation.
BDCL fixture meeting will take place on Tuesday 20th June at Olton Chess Club.
West Bromwich went into the final match of WDCL knowing that defeat may result in relegation to Division Two. However a 2.5-1.5 victory against Telford secured 3rd spot!
Having secured promotion to Division One of BDCL, West Bromwich hosted Champions Redditch in the final match of the season and the match result of 3-3 denied Redditch a 100% record.
